Detailed Description:

The civil works consist of three sites: the main station in the center of Najaf city, the intake station on the banks of the Euphrates River, and the booster station. The project duration is 28 months. This project covers the vital drinking water needs of the cities of Najaf and Kufa.

The project consists of:

  • Primary intake station.
  • Treatment plant.
  • Booster station.
  • Transmission pipeline.
  • Distribution and booster station consisting of buildings and the fourth transmission line (4 units).
  • Sixteen (16) circular sedimentation basins.
  • Control and backwash tanks, and water inlet channels to the ground reservoirs for both sites (8 units).
  • Water outlet channel, main pumping building, power building, in addition to sludge and chemical buildings.
  • Administrative buildings, workshop, engineers’ residence, operators’ housing, and guard rooms.
